Yeongdong Thermal Power Plant 

  • Establishment of testbed for demonstration (Addition of testing capability to commercial facilities)

  3. Clean energy power plant demonstration and creation of legal infrastructure

  • Total R&D Cost : 1.77 billion KRW (Cash 1.37B KRW, Investment in kind 0.4B KRW)

  • Duration : 2016.11 ~ 2019. 09 (35 months)

  • Managing Institution : Korea Electric Power Research Institute (Manager : Bumsu Kim)

  • Participating Institutions : Korea South-East Power, Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials, Chung-ang University, Mokpo National Maritime University, Gangwon Research Institute

  • Facilities for pressurizing water delivered from desulfurizing equipment and supplying it to boilers

  • Testing is being conducted on internal materials, including a C impeller, among boiler water supply pump A/B/C.

Expected Effects

  • Increase in lifetime due to improved wear-resistance and anti-corrosion properties

  • Coating can be applied to other facilities based on the demonstration data
